Overview

Private guided excursion (max 3 hours walking) on Etna south to Etna east, exploring and walking the places of the historical massive eruption of 1669, the 2001 eruption and lots of secret and unknown places on the slope of Etna (around 13 places to see). Include also a visit to the Valle del bove and Rifugio Sapienza at 2000m o.s.l.. Full Trip Porgram

A trip with many stops into vertical and horizontal caves, craters, calderas, destroyed buildings, lava quarries, lava rivers of 2001, big eruptions valleys and some secret places. During the trip, you will be told about the history and volcanology of a particular eruption that destroyed many town and a big part of Catania.

Starting suggested around 8.30am.

We will visit many spots. Some of them require around 1H to 1:30H hiking of not complicated level, some just a 15min walking and most of them are just close to where we stop with the vehicle. Some points require short, not complicated but steep walking (and also optional). Around 90 km of changing landscapes to drive. Depending on the season is possible to jump from 15 to -2 degrees with snow in few km.

This trip last around 6 hours, but you can decide to spend more time in a specific place. Time is not a problem!

The guests have flexibility to choose to stop for a typical lunch somewhere on the trip or on request typical food and drink can be provided. Is also possible to stop by some winery or farm to taste local products during the trip (It is a private excursion, so it is possible to tailor made the trip on guests preferences before or during the trip).

Add a trip to Catania city center: this city, together with Greek, Roman and medieval ruins has lots of stories to tell if you manage to go below the actual ground level, where the eruptions destroyed and hidden secrets under to meters of lava.

Overnight on a Shelter on Etna
In order to make your experience on Etna even more exiting and “complete”, is possible to organise an overnight inside a refuge of Etna with barbecue on the chimney. We provide all the necessary equipment as sleeping bag and airbed.

Electric Mountain bikes trip
A spectacular itinerary with to do with e-bikes (mountain bike) to explore the Volcano with extra power on your wheels. Fun is guaranteed! E-bike is the only vehicle allowed inside this area of the Etna Natural park.
